Trainer: Chris Kelly

At the age of two, Chris Kelly’s first introduction to training was serving as marathon coach for his Mom—a decorated runner. Since then, Chris has gone on to compete in numerous sports on a high school and collegiate level. But all the while, his true passion remained in training others—often remaining after practice to consult with coaches on tactics and game preparation. After tearing his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) as a Sophomore, Chris witnessed the benefits of proper fitness—working closely with a trainer to rehabilitate his knee without surgery after being told he would never run normally again. Nine months later, Chris stepped back on the soccer field a better athlete-- and with a deep passion for proper training and nutrition. After joining his college's sports medical staff, Chris worked and trained with dozens of athletes to overcome injuries. And over the last five years, he has trained hundreds of individuals in gyms, and physical rehabilitation centers all over the country.

As the editor of The Spotter, an online webzine focusing on healthy living in Manhattan, Chris has written extensively on fitness, healthcare, and nutrition. Chris’s health and fitness writing has also appeared in numerous publications including Exercise for Men, Prevention, Health, and the Boston Globe

Chris has over 8 years of experience in fitness, and holds fitness certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Chris is also certified in Sports Nutrition with the International Society of Sports Nutrition and a Holistic Health Counselor through the American Association of drugless Practitioners. He is available for individual and group fitness training, as well as speaking seminars.

Trainee: Melissa Anelli

Melissa Anelli has no time for her health.

During the week, she works as a daily newspaper reporter for the Staten Island Advance; when she comes home at night, she spends six to eight hours daily (and more on the weekend) running LeakyNews.com, one of the most popular Harry Potter sites on the Internet, managing a staff of over 50 people. She is also a host on PotterCast, Leaky's podcast, which entails hours each week of planning, interviewing and recording. She has about an hour of meetings with staffers each night, and that's when the unpredictable newspaper business doesn't keep her late at the office. As a result, her eating patterns have become erratic as have her sleeping ones, and health has taken a backseat.

Melissa is 26 years old and lives in Staten Island, NY. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the New York Daily News, the Washington Post, USA Today, US News & World Report, NY1, and many more. In the past two years as a daily reporter her work has been part of two breaking news packages that have won distinctions from the Associated Press. She has also interviewed almost every important figure associated with the Harry Potter franchise, including a rare chat with author J.K. Rowling, which took place in the author's home on the day that Rowling's sixth Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," was released. She has also spoken with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Rupert Grint (Ronald Weasley), Chris Columbus (Director), Alfonso Cuaron (Director), Mike Newell (Director) and many more.

On any given day Melissa can be found struggling through her to-do list. This is her effort to include health on that list. To prioritize it. To fit it in.
